Workplace Description
Department of Educational Administration, Language and Literature Center
At the Language and Literature Center (SOL), we educate approximately 8,000 students annually across 500 courses and a dozen programs.
Together with the educational administrators, you as an academic advisor will be centrally placed at SOL in the Department of Educational Administration, but your tasks will be within one or more subjects at the department. The department consists of around 20 employees in a close-knit and supportive team. As an academic advisor, you play an important role in supporting both students and the program director and teachers.
We Offer
Lund University is a government authority, which means you receive special benefits, generous vacation, and a favorable occupational pension. We also have a flexible working hours agreement that creates good conditions for a balance between work and leisure.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
We are looking for an academic advisor for the university subjects of English and rhetoric. The tasks include, on one hand, subject-specific and general academic guidance tailored to the student's questions and needs, and on the other hand, administration related to the announcement and admission to courses and programs within the framework of the subjects and in collaboration with the subject's program director. The subject-specific academic guidance also includes some guidance towards employment, which requires you to have a good grounding in language studies and understand the role of the humanities and students' opportunities in the labor market.
It also includes preparing decision-making materials in student matters, such as applications for exemptions and credit transfers. You will design educational texts together with the program director and teachers and represent the department's undergraduate education in various contexts, e.g., at introductory meetings and public events. The workload varies throughout the year with periods of high workload during the start and end of terms, as well as during the application periods.
You need to be able to handle several different administrative systems and tools, such as NyA, Lubas, Ladok, and Microsoft 365. The administrative support is continuously changing, which means you need to be flexible and ready to learn new tasks.
Qualifications
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who has good receptive ability and is open to learning the job. The authority's assignment requires your accuracy, objectivity, and adherence to regulations, while you are also responsive to the individual student's needs. It is important that you are stress-resistant as the pace of work can be high at times. As an employee, you also have a responsibility to contribute to a good and pleasant study and work environment.
Requirements for the position are:
- A university degree, at least a bachelor's degree, and extensive higher education studies in languages
- Experience working with academic advising at the university level or other experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Very good communication skills in Swedish and English
- Good ability to collaborate even under stress
- Good ability to independently prioritize in ongoing work, initiative, and good organizational skills.

- Bachelor's degree in a language subject, or education deemed equivalent by the employer
- Good knowledge of and understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the humanities in today's society
- Familiarity with laws and regulations governing government authorities and particularly the education sector
- Good knowledge of Lund University and its organization
Other
The position is a temporary appointment at 80% of full-time for eight months starting January 12, 2026, or by agreement, but no later than September 10, 2026. Interviews are planned for week 51.
Contact person for any questions about the position is Åsa Wikström here (https://www.sol.lu.se/person/AsaWikstrom), head of the Language and Literature Center.
